Relaunching Prospect’s app with improved features and functionality
For many years Prospect’s app has remained underdeveloped, existing solely as a PDF replica of the print magazine. During this time, competitors have improved their apps to include additional content, audio articles and a greater range of functionality including offline reading and bookmarking stories.
Following on from the relaunch of the website in 2023, the focus switched to improving the Prospect app to include all of these features making it a more robust and comprehensive product not only for existing subscribers but also for people new to the brand.
Over just a few months I worked with internal stakeholders to identify a suitable partner for the project, produced static visuals for developers to work from and oversaw the technical development of the project from the import of content to the integration of a new push notification provider.
Launched in January 2024, the new Prospect app has proven to be successful in keeping subscribers engaged with our journalism. Monthly user figures have doubled and continue to rise as we implement and optimise our push notification strategy.
